Now in it’s 9th year The Ghostlight Sessions is one of the country’s longest running established original emerging music nights. Each night features 3 30 minute sets performed by some of Ireland’s best new musical talent. November’s Ghostlight is the final one of 2026. We’re excited to introduce Heron Red and Porter Boys Social Club while our resident MC Dean Maywood also takes the spotlight.
Heron Red is a musical project born from the creative spark between Molly Buchan and Callum Wall, two incredible artists well-known in the Irish indie scene.
Having crossed paths many times over the years duo teamed up in 2024. A buzz quickly grew and Heron Red was born, performing their own brand of folk, trad and singer-songwriter songs week after week across the country.
They’ve played a string of Festivals this year including Electric Picnic, All Together Now and Galway Folk Festival supporting Damien Dempsey and have caught the attention of MCD for whom they’ve played a headline gig in The Cobblestone, Dublin.
If you like pints, pageantry and political indoctrination, you might just tolerate Porter Boys Social Club on their quest to make ballads loud, punk catchy and debauchery fashionable again.
Featuring the Marron brothers from south Monaghan and Louth’s James Luckie the trio mix dubious politics with the odd ballad, channelling their radicalization into what has been described by Hot Press as “If Woody Guthrie joined The Velvet Underground.”
Ghostlight Sessions regulars will know Dean Maywood well. He’s the host and booker of our monthly showcase. The Raphoe man returns with guitar in hand and a hat full of songs, some old, some new, some sad, some very sad. An old school troubadour in every sense. If you’re a fan of artists like John Prine, Jason Isbell, Josh Ritter and Neil Young he’ll probably be right up your street. Basically an old fella with a guitar and a bagful of great tunes.
