Balor Developmental Community Arts is home to the longest running Youth Theatre in Donegal. The classes currently run on a ten week cycle, the participants work on a variety of theatre skills including Voice, Acting, and Sight Reading learning through a mix of drama games, exercises and rehearsals. The course culminates in a show, which is specially written or adapted to compliment the unique make up of the group.
Caroline Bell is our youth theatre manager and states that “Many of the children keep coming back because they have built up strong friendships and enjoy the challenge of getting the play ready on time.”
Balor DCA Currently runs classes for the following age groups:
Balor DCA also runs a programme for the 15 to 17 year old age group that lasts for the full academic year. This introduces the participants to acting school techniques helping to develop the skills needed should they wish to pursue a career in the performing arts, although many of skills are transferable to any career path they may follow. We take a holistic approach to the classes in order to build confidence and self motivation, in all the young people that attend and instil a lifelong interest in the performing arts.
