Duke Special
The enigmatic Belfast songsmith returns to The Balor
Duke Special is one of Ireland’s most talented, versatile and entertaining musicians. His gig here last March was one of our musical highlights of 2016 so the decision to book him again for this year was a no-brainer.
From his debut album – 2005’s Adventures in Gramophone to last year’s Look Out Machines! Duke has consistently delivered excellence in the studio. His sublime 2007 offering ‘Songs From The Deep Forest’ went platinum, was nominated for the Choice Music Prize and delivered his most successful hit single ‘Freewheel’.
Not content with just studio work his creative talents see him with many more irons in the fire. The last 12 months have seen him writing for various projects ranging from a theatrical production of Huckleberry Finn to his collaboration with traditional supergroup Ulaid.
