PHILADELPHIA HERE I COME - Sat Mar 20th
The Fureys & Davey Arthur
Friday, 12 March 2010
One of Ireland's most popular international bands The Fureys & Davey Arthur take their show of music, songs and stories to the Balor Arts Centre for their first appearance here. They have been entertaining people all over the world for 32 years and the songs they have made popular are sung at almost every party you will attend.
With some Donegal family connections, there is a sense of coming back to their family roots. Banjo player Davey's mother comes from Gweedore and all his maternal relations are still here as is their manager, whose parents come from Barnesmore and near Laghey.
Among their audiences have been former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, Irish President Mary McAleese and the late Pope John Paul II. Tony Blair has publicly stated that his favourite peace song of all time is the Furey's 'Green Fields Of France'.
There is nothing we can say about these legends of Irish music that people don't already know so don't miss their first ever Balor concert where you can hear them sing all their hits including 'I WIll Love You', 'When You Were Sweet 16', 'The Green Fields Of France', 'The Red Rose Cafe', 'The Old Man', ' From Clare To Here', 'Her Father Didn't Like Me Anyway', 'Leaving Nancy', 'Steal Away' and many more.
