One of North Americas premier bluegrass touring bands
Blending lightning fast, devilishly intricate instrumentals with sawdust-thick vocals The Slocan Ramblers are widely regarded as one of the very best bluegrass bands touring in North America.
They first rose to prominence in their home town of Toronto. The Toronto crowd is tough to impress. Audiences don’t respond to a clean-cut Nashville sound, they prefer music with dirt caked on its boots and more spit than polish but when you have captured their attention they get firmly behind you. In no time at all The Slocan Ramblers had developed a reputation as a must-see music act.
Before long the band had gate-crashed the US circuit with barnstorming shows that won them subsequent appearances at some of the country’s major festivals such as Rockygrass and Merlefest reaffiming the seal of approval from peers, die-hards and roots music fans alike.
Their 2016-issued album, Coffee Creek, made a huge impact too, winning them a Best Album nomination in the prestigious Canadian Folk Music Awards – and rave reviews from the media on this side of the Atlantic too.
Uniquely placed to be able to keep traditionalists impressed while also gathering a hip young crowd of followers around them, the ‘live’ shows are entertaining affairs that showcase melodic panache and a playing ability and style that is second to none.
