Returning home to Strabane after 12 years working in the Belfast music scene, Darren Doherty wasted no time in launching his solo career with his debut album ‘What You Do’ in 2017. Acquiring some of the finest local musicians to form Darren Doherty & The Heathen Choir has proved a masterstroke As we await the arrival of the second album ‘The Travel Companion : Volume One’ later this year rave reviews of a very passionate live show have seen them headline Belfast’s famous Empire Music Hall and convert new fans at every show. Well travelled songwriting about adult themes with infectious melodies.
D-Day are an alternative rock band from Galway. Following on from a hectic UK summer tour featuring shows at The Cavern, Liverpool and Night and Day, Manchester, they returned home for the Pure M Awards, Dublin where they topped off their summer by winning ‘Best Act’. Their debut single ‘Misunderstood’ mixed by Grammy and Juno-nominated sound engineer Mike Fraser, was included on Pete Holidai’s ‘Scene Not Heard’: a compilation album featuring the best of Irish music while their track, ‘Long Time Gone’, featured on Netflix original series ‘Club de Cuervos’.
Donegal’s Blackbird and Crow are Maighread Ni Ghrasta (Vocals) and Stephen Doohan (Guitar/Bouzouki /Stomp. Their music is best described as Janis Joplin meets Ry Cooder with a sprinkling of Fleetwood Mac in their early years. They released their single ‘I Gave Away My Home’ and album ‘SHOCK SHATTER CONVINCE’ in early 2017 and are quickly making a name for themselves as one of the most hardworking and driven bands on the Irish scene.
