David Munnelly from Mayo is widely regarded as one of the most influential accordion players of his generation. He has played with legendary Irish bands De Dannan and The Chieftains and for 15 years fronted The David Munnelly Band.
His new project The David Munnelly Trio sees him joined by Shane McGowan on guitar and Joseph McNulty on fiddle. Shane Mcgowan from Lavagh in south Sligo comes from a musical family, giving his first public performance at the age of 5. He’s guested and toured with the likes of Lunasa, Zakir Hussain and Delores Keane.
Joseph McNulty began to play traditional Irish music at a young age and by the age of 14 had won 5 all-Ireland titles and 4 world titles. Most recently he has toured with Ragus in mainland Europe and spent time working in the National Folk Theatre of Ireland.
Together the trio is a coming together of three individual styles fusing perfectly into a natural blend which shows great reverence to old traditions with some new compositions blending into the mix.
